We had the most fun with laundry day during our Bubbles, Boats and Floats theme with Mother Goose Time. The best way to learn is hands on and through play, right? So that’s what we did – washed laundry so we could hang it out to dry. Thanks for reading! Subscribe to Share & Remember or follow me via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Taking play outdoors is just the best too, especially when it’s this nice. No point in being inside too much!
So our sensory table spends a lot of time outside in the summer. I put it under the tree and filled it with water and a dab of laundry detergent. Our crab apple tree was dropping spent blossoms and stems at the time, so if you see something dark in the water and on the towels, that’s what it is.
For easy to handle laundry, we took the doll clothes, blankets and our hand drying wash cloths (I use the white towels from IKEA) out. I stretched the retractable clothesline out to the tree and wrapped it on a low branch so everyone could reach the clothesline.
Such a fun process to wet the clothing, making bubbles, squeeze it out and then hang it up to dry! Hanging laundry up on the line isn’t easy for little ones. They have to use both hands and figure out how the clip works before it falls off.
It didn’t take long before everything was hanging on the line and drip drying.
They did a fabulous job, which shows us how capable children are!
Children love doing “grown up jobs”.
They have the cutest ways of doing them too!
I thought this coordinating activity was fabulous too. We made shirt designs with this simple art spinner.
The idea was to take turns spinning the spinner. Whatever design is selected, everyone creates that design on their t-shirt shape. Such a wonderful way to expand skills! Following directions, waiting turns, and being exposed to a new idea, like drawing a zig-zag or spiral shape. Fine motor work in progress!
It was one of those projects I had to do along with them!
Look at the concentration needed to make these designs.
Unique art that was all about the process!
Who knew laundry could be so fun!
I received curriculum from Mother Goose Time for honest and authentic stories resulting from my daily experiences using the curriculum. After using Mother Goose Time for about 10 years, I am pleased to promote quality educational learning experiences through play with Mother Goose Time! #sponsored #MGTblogger
