Patriotic Granola Bars

How about some red, white and blue?!  Make some yummy Patriotic Granola Bars for Memorial Day or the 4th of July potlucks, parties. Great snack for kids after sports practice or games too. No one can resist M & M’s!

Patriotic Granola Bars - Share & Remember

They’re quick and easy to make. The recipe is below – there’s also a printable version for your convenience.

Patriotic Granola Bars

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable or coconut oil
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips or 1/2 cup M & M patriotic mix

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 325 F° and line a cake pan with parchment paper.
2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt oil, brown sugar, and honey together.

3.  Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
4.  Bring it to a gentle simmer and remove from heat.
5. Add vanilla extract and set aside.

6. In a large bowl, combine the oats, cereal, and salt. 1

7. Pour the honey mixture over the oat mixture, and stir to coat.

8. Stir in the chocolate chips/candies, then pour out into prepared pan and press down.

9. Bake at 325F for 20 minutes.
10. Cool, then chill for an hour in the fridge for easier cutting, and then wrap up with plastic wrap or parchment paper and store at room temp.678
