Rainbow Kool-Aid Play Dough with colored toothpicks

Our rainbow theme has ended but I still have several posts that I didn’t get to last week. We’re moving on to a space theme for July! But first, here’s our Rainbow Kool-Aid Play Dough activity.

We used the recipe from Chocolate Muffin Tree to make the play dough. I love that it’s a microwave version. I dreaded making all the different batches for the rainbow colors but it was super easy. I made three batches and split each in half so each was a different color. {We didn’t do yellow – I was short on Cream of Tartar.}Rainbow Kool-Aid Play Dough

I put out colored toothpicks for them to play with, in the play dough. It was a huge hit! I love what Brett made, below.

Very fun! We’ll make rainbow Kool-Aid play dough again!

I don't think you can bake it. I would expect it to melt and run all over when it gets warm. You might try making smaller creations and allowing it to air dry. I would it expect it to be crumbly though. I'd try a colored clay or paint a clay creation after it dries instead.

These are wooden toothpicks. A few broke but overall, they held up. Good to know on the Cream of Tartar!
