Part of our To the Moon! Summer Fun Space Activities theme, involved learning about astronauts. Being an astronaut and going to the moon is an exciting thought! Making the theme relatable is difficult, though, when we can’t experience space. We can use videos, stories and pictures to make the space theme come alive.
We read The Berenstain Bears On the Moon. The Melissa and Doug Astronaut Costume Set is awesome too! I don’t have it but hope to get it the next time we cover the space theme. I also put out our rocket and astronaut set.
To incorporate art or a craft into learning about astronauts, we made these cute astronauts preschool space craft projects. It’s simple because it uses a template, but you do need to have a picture of each child handy. Otherwise you could have the child draw a person in that space. Overall I’m not a big fan of these color/cut/stick together type crafts but I thought this one was cute. Parents really liked them. Make a Astronauts Preschool Space Craft with a few simple items.
