Months of the Year Printable

For quite a while I’ve been wanting a Months of the Year Printable timeline type display to use during circle time to teach about the months of the year. I knew it needed to be very visual, so little learners could “read” it themselves. Looking at the strip, it needed to be clear what happens in each month so they can learn what is coming next.

I made my own Months of the Year Printable with resources from various sites. Putting them together resulted in a wonderful visual timeline that helps preschoolers understand that there are 12 months in a year and what month we are currently on, as well as what is ahead. It’s reinforced with repetition and the little songs we since each month.

MONTHS OF THE YEAR PRINTABLE TIMELINE FOR PRESCHOOL CIRCLE TIMEI found these Months of the Year cards on Montessori for Everyone. I printed them out, glued them on black construction paper (3 separate strips), laminated them and hung it with an E Z Hang Ups tab near our calendar. The clothespin marks the current month.

I also like the Months of the Year songs (I originally found them at earlylearningactivities.com – more ideas to use for calendar time here)  They are quick to learn. We like to add signs or gestures to the songs, or even just clap while we sing.
