This is a fun way to explore shapes – using cooked spaghetti noodles to outline the shapes. I found this free printable on Mrs. Miner’s Kindergarten Monkey Business blog. I did attempt to color our noodles but obviously didn’t use enough food coloring! My group was interested for a very short time, but we’ll try it again soon.

Using it as sensory isn't at all as messy as I expected it to be. Of course, I added a little oil to keep the noodles from sticking. I put them in a large shallow bowl over top of a plastic table cloth. They enjoyed it most with the kids' stainless steel kitchen set. Add a little glue toward the end and create a design and it will dry that way. I've made spaghetti noodle nests this way (added brown paint to the glue), molded in a plastic bowl. When dry (a few days), we cut the bowl off and voila! Added birds and eggs. Was a cute spring project.

I saw K's sr. pics, on the studio site. So I clicked on the comment from your sister. Then I saw that K was going into high school, so then I figured out we were in the same grade. So I left a comment, K emailed me, and we've been talking since!:) AND :) young K and I figured out the other K and I, have the same birthday.

I didn't make this connection, but have looked at your blog in the past, you are K's aunt! :) I just got to know her! I miss preschool! Looks like fun! ;)

We've actually never used noodles specifically for a shape activity but they just LOVE it for sensory. And the other day I dumped a whole box of spaghetti on the floor so guess what's in the near future...:-)
