We made a trip to Meijer for some back to school shopping. My son is going to a be a junior this year (what?!) so he doesn’t need a huge list of supplies like the younger kids need, but we still needed to pick up his things. Like all other teachers, I always have a list of needed materials. Meijer is helpfully offering teachers a 15% discount on office and school supplies through September 30. We visited the Machesney Park, IL store, just across the state line.

- The 15% off teacher discount is available at all Meijer stores from July 9 – September 30
- Simply present a current school ID at your local Meijer Customer Service desk to receive a coupon.
- The coupon can only be used for purchases made in-store and some restrictions apply.
- Teachers can return to Meijer and obtain a new coupon any time throughout the back-to-school shopping season
I picked up my coupon at customer service first thing. Being a family childcare provider, I often wonder if family childcare providers will be offered the teacher discount at stores I shop at all the time. I know and believe I am a teacher but society tells us we are not. We’re childcare providers, babysitters or daycares but not teachers.
I find that many people need to be educated so I use this opportunity. Here’s a tip: I took a picture of my state childcare license and saved it my Google Keep Notes app. When asked for my ID, I show my license and explain that I have a state-licensed childcare center and this is my ID. If questioned, I explain that I am a teacher, a preschool or childcare teacher. I know I teach and I definitely use the supplies! Thank you Meijer for including child care teachers!
School Supplies at Meijer
I was impressed with the number of school supplies we encountered soon in the door. Displays full of pens, erasers, markers, glue and everything else. We weren’t even to the back of the store yet where the seasonal back to school supplies are.
We found everything we needed.
I love the colorful theme throughout the store for back to school.

I NEED these mini ruled index cards for SOMETHING around my room. Or maybe for the writing center? I’m sure we can find a use for them!

Backpacks & Lunch Boxes
Brett isn’t needing a backpack this year (he usually gets one every other year) but Meijer has a nice selection for his age. Usually, all we can find is the fun bags for the younger crew.
Back to School Clothes Shopping
We also checked out Meijer’s clothes for back to school. Brett doesn’t need a lot as his growth has slowed and he can wear most of what he already owns but hey – have to have a few new things!
Brett found some fun t-shirts, some long-sleeved shirt hoodies, and some new socks. Why is there never enough socks for teenage boys?!
We enjoyed shopping at Meijer. It’s a clean, bright store with a big selection.
I appreciated their neat checkouts and the fact that most of them were open and in use! And we saved 15% on the school supplies. Yay! Go take advantage of the 15% teacher discount through September 30!
