Father’s Day Painted Cards & Tape Collage Bookmarks

Dads are hard, right? I know I’m not the only one who struggles with trying to come up with something meaningful and desirable to give the Dads. We ended up making Father’s Day Painted Cards & Tape Collage Bookmarks.

The kids painted “DAD” cards with liquid watercolors. They were given a variety of colors and they all turned out great. Download a copy of the DAD card printable here. (The lettering is slightly different than pictured.)

Our bookmarks are made using adding machine tape paper – although any paper can be used of course. There’s a story about that – a friend who was visiting made her own projects using the roll of paper  and colored masking tape that’s out in our writing center & I loved the idea! To personalize them, I took pictures of each child with Instagram for the back. Originally I thought a strip off three or four pictures of each child would be fun but it’s hard enough to get one picture of each child! After gluing it all to cardstock I laminated them, punched a hole in the top & added ribbon.

How did you print out the picture from Instagram? And did you hand-rip the edges for the deckled edge? Cute project :)

Hi Dana, I probably used the snipping tool (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use-snipping-tool-capture-screen-shots#1TC=windows-8) to clip the picture from Instagram. Or you could use the screen print and crop it. I used a decorative edge scrapbook scissors for cutting the edges. Thanks!
