Quick & Easy Way to Paint a Chevron Pattern #ShapeTape

This post brought to you by FrogTape® brand painter’s tape. All opinions are 100% mine.

The chevron design is hot, hot, hot! I don’t have a place to use a large amount of it, but I wanted a touch in my home.  I’m likely to find more uses for it now that I know it’s so easy to do with Shape Tape™!

We have an amazing thrift store here in our town where I found this great little typewriter table. As soon as I spotted it, I knew this was my project! $10 little steal.Quick & Easy Way to Paint a Chevron PatternShape Tape™ is FrogTape® brand’s first edge treated painter’s tape with pre-cut patterns: Chevron, Wave & Scallop. Shape Tape ™ is treated with patented PaintBlock® Technology, a super absorbent polymer that reacts with the water in latex paint and instantly gels to form a micro-barier that seals the edges of the tape, which helps prevent paint bleed. I had very good results with the Shape Tape™ – my paint did not bleed through!

This was such a fun little project, I am so thrilled I got to try using the chevron Shape Tape™!

Shape Tape™ is easy to use!   I painted the wood top with a cottage white paint. I wanted a worn look for the top so I sanded a lot of the paint off.

Then I started applying the strips of chevron shape tape (wait 24 hours before applying the tape or your base layer of paint may peel up!) I’m not patient enough to measure so I eye-balled it to line up the Shape Tape™.  The backing peels off in two pieces so I peeled off the top piece, placed the tape and then removed the other half. It makes applying the tape super easy!

You’ll see in the picture I used a green scrapper tool (a dish scrapper from Walmart, $1) to firmly press down the tape. I quickly painted over the tape stencil with a light blue and then the fun part – removing the tape to see the pattern!  What’s great about Shape Tape™ is that you can remove the tape as soon as you are done painting. The edges turned out perfect! Very crispy lines, no paint bled through.

I was undecided if I would repaint the metal part of the cart but decided to after all and I’m so glad I did! After the top was dry I covered it with saran wrap and spray painted the base.

This is a very versatile product and can be used on walls, fabric, furniture, centerpieces, wall art & more! Find FrogTape® Shape Tape™ on Twitter @FrogTape. Follow for lots of creative inspiration for using Shape Tape™!

My little cart table can be used in so many ways – I put a basket underneath and have used it as a laptop table. I thought I could also use it for display by my front door, decorated with pumpkins and mums for fall. It also would work in my bathroom, holding towels or other things in the bathroom. Currently it’s beside my bed since my bedside tables are being painted!

Shape Tape™ is now available at participating Lowes and Walmart locations, and all Menards stores across the United States. Visit Frogtape.com for more information on where to buy.
