We are right in the middle of our dinosaur theme from Experience Preschool (formerly Mother Goose Time) preschool theme for January. BIG dinosaur fun!
Dinosaur Preschool Activities
Here’s our January calendar. We don’t spend a lot of time on the calendar, but I say “It’s Tuesday (point to Tuesday), January (point to January), 20, 2015. One child puts the number on. Then we usually count how many days are on the calendar so far. We also have the option of talking about patterns on the number cards. This month’s pattern is ABCD.
We also talk about the weather and put up a weather piece.
We have been playing the Dinosaur Dig game. Pick your dinosaur!
Roll the dice and count how many spaces. It’s so exciting to use dice!
Collect some bones and see who wins at the end!
Counting and learning to take turns. Valuable lessons to learn!
We also painted with dinosaurs, making fun dino prints on paper.
Raaarr!
We made some big dinosaur bones when we were learning about paleontologists and excavation sites. First we covered them with tape for some texture and then painted them with white paint. Those are some big dinosaur bones!
One of our dinosaur sensory bins is dinosaur skeleton bones in dirt.
We’ve been talking about being “forgiving”. We did some role-playing and we look for times throughout the day that we can say “I forgive you” because learning to communicate and understand each other is so important!
Our numbers are 5 & 15 – counting with math mats and oval linking shapes.
