Homemade Snowflake Stamp Paintings
With a circle shape cutouts, yarn and a little paint, we made beautiful snowflake paintings. This Mother Goose Time visual arts and fine motor skill activity, was from December’s Day 1 of Winter Wonderland Snowflake theme.
First the children were able to explore the materials. How would we make snowflakes from circle shapes and yarn? Then I showed them how we could cut slits in the circles and wrap yarn around the in various ways to create a snowflake. I helped most of them finish up wrapping their design and taping it down. The three year olds were most successful in wrapping their yarn. An alternative method would be to glue pieces of yarn on the cardboard shape to create a unique snowflake design.
The children were invited to dip one side of the stamp into white paint and create snowflake designs on the paper. Glitter could also be added but we didn’t this time.
A hole could be punched in the stampers so they could be hung but we glued them to our paintings.
Another wonderful process art project from Mother Goose Time!
