If you’ve noticed a theme here, we are reading beach and ocean-related books and coordinating a project to go with it for our “oceans of summer fun” theme in August. This story is called: I’m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean! Now, is a squid the biggest thing in the ocean? Of course not, but you have to read the book. That’s what this activity is about.
What a great book! So short and simple but so fun to read.
The Giant Squid says he’s the “biggest thing in the ocean” until he’s swallowed by a whale and then he says “I’m the biggest thing in this whale!”
We had to make Giant Squids to match the character in the book. Then we made up our own words to “I’m the biggest thing in the ocean! I’m bigger than a _____.” Answers were: clownfish, sun jellyfish, turtle, octopus, and ocean.
I love homemade books & so do the kids. This one is made with sheet protectors, book rings and decorated with ribbon & yarn. I use packing tape to tape the edges so the sheets don’t fall out or get taken apart.
