How to Make Rustic Wood Slice Fingerprint Wreath Ornaments
Materials Needed for Wood Slice Ornaments
Gather these items to get started:
- Wood slice ornaments (2-3″ in diameter)
- Acrylic paints: green, red, yellow, white
- Glitter paint (optional)
- Paper towels or wipes
- Paintbrush (optional for touch-ups)
Step-by-Step Directions for Making Rustic Wreath Ornaments
Follow these simple instructions to craft your fingerprint wreath ornaments:
1. Prepare Your Workspace
- Lay down newspaper or a plastic tablecloth to protect surfaces.
- Pour small amounts of each paint color onto a paper plate. If desired, mix glitter paint into the green paint for added sparkle.
2. Create the Wreath Base
- Dip the child’s fingertip into the green paint.
- Press the fingerprint onto the wood slice in a circular pattern to form the wreath shape.
- Wipe off any excess paint from the child’s finger using a paper towel or wipe.
3. Add Festive Details
- Dip the fingertip in red paint and add small dots around the wreath for berries.
- Use more red paint to create a bow shape below the wreath.
4. Paint the Candle and Flame
- Use white paint to create a small vertical rectangle in the center of the wreath (the candle).
- Wipe off paint and dip the fingertip in yellow paint to add a flame at the top of the candle.
5. Let It Dry
- Allow the ornament to dry completely before hanging it on your tree.

I used the Craft Smart Value Pack Acrylic paints. It’s so handy having an assortment of colors.

A beautiful result! Rustic wood slice fingerprint wreath ornaments combine natural elements with a heartfelt touch, making them a perfect addition to your holiday traditions.
